Mr and Mrs jigg
Karen and I got married this past Friday. We had a City Hall wedding, with a very small gathering that consisted of my family, her family and one of my bestfriends who took of work to help me take pictures.
We had decided about two weeks ago to get married. Since we were getting married anyway, we might as well get it over with for tax and health benefits reasons. We are still planning for the BBQ reception next summer where we will be inviting all our friends and family.
As most of you know, Mrs. jigg and I met on Xanga. Through this blogging community, we became friends and last year April began to date. Neither she nor I had any special feelings for each other at the time, but we decided to give it a try and see where it would take us. I knew within a few months that she was the one for me. First and foremost, there was nothing about her that I hated or couldn’t stand. Although she was a bit naive and immature, I knew she had the potential to mature and grow fast enough to catch up to me. Maturity is really important, but what is most important is when both couples see eye to eye and are in the same point in their lives.
I didn’t tell anyone about our wedding plans because I wasn’t sure how to address it after we got married. Do I keep it secret till we have our wedding next year? If so, do I continue referring to her as my fiancée and not my wife? It’s a rather long way from now, which meant that neither of us will be wearing our wedding rings till then.
After thinking about it, we decided that we will tell everyone that we are married. I don’t like keeping secrets and marriage shouldn’t be a secret. Once I got to a computer on Friday, I changed my Facebook status to married and then added a Pulse on Xanga. Mrs jigg didn’t even know until hours later when my phone kept on buzzing from the Facebook alerts, everytime someone commented on my new status.
So far, being married doesn’t feel any different. We dated less than a year before I proposed and our engagement has been less than half a year. Either way, this is definitely a new chapter in my life and I’m pretty excited to share it with my new wife.
Anyway, we would like to thank everyone for their congratulatory words! I’ll try to post up some pictures later. In the meantime, I would like to say that I am wearing the Ring of Power as my wedding band, made in black tungsten.

Congrats! =]
Yay!
congrats!!!
*gushes* how romantic! Congrats!!
Have fun with your Ring Ray. That may very well be the last victory you have for the rest of your life. CHEERS TO BBQ’S!
Yayy
congrats and best wishes! <3
Congratulations!
i was a bit suspicious when i saw the status change on fb.. but my confirmations were right!!!! =)
congrats Jigg and to the new Mrs. Jigg!
that’s real cute. i had friends who got married at first for legal reasons and they kept it a secret UNTIL he proposed, and then she told me (i’m her bridesmaid). but whether or not it’s legal shouldn’t really matter; a wedding is impending and they’ll be together regardless.
either way, congrats!
Congrats again and do post a picture of the ring haha!
My cousin eloped and kept her “marriage” a secret from the extended family until the actual reception which was a year later.
So- do you feel more power now that you’re wearing your ring?
Congrats! Chris and I met on Xanga also, and we did the same thing. Got married at City Hall, and will plan to have a beach-side reception later on when we actually have time. Best wishes to you and your wife!
how exciting! congrats! cheers to a new chapter in your life.
you would want to wear the ring of power. Just saying. I’m still happy for you both, though!!!
congratz im happy for the two of you
wait did you two live in different cities previously? Just wondering who made the move…
@joooolie - She made the move. We live in NYC now.
-ray leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
@jigg - do you have an entry about this decision? mann why is it that the girl is always expected to move? I’m stuck at a similar crossroad…oh yes and congrats!
@joooolie - I don’t, simply because it was her decision. I think from the get-go, she knew that she had to move here because I personally don’t like Boston and the jobs there are limited. If there was a change of heart on her part, I think I would have ended the relationship before it got too serious. In the greater sense of things, I don’t compromise. Sacrifices are needed to be made by both sides, depending on the issue.
If neither side is willing to move for the other, the relationship would not work and this is what I mean by expiration date.
Goodluck with your decision.

You have an awesome love story.
Congrats!
& cheers for a lifetime of love and happiness with Mrs. Jigg
congrats!
Awesome!!! =D That’s so cool. ^o^
Congratulations!!!
BTW. I can see why you luv NYC so much. I had a blast!! =] And I didn’t get lost, or have any trouble with the subways. =^o^=
@jigg - Yo.. OMG @ that ring…. *Fans myself*
Congrats once again! We love a good xangan love story till happily ever after. Awesome choice ring i must say. =)
LOVE LOVE the ring! Congrats!
congrats!
Congratulations! Looks like you got the exact ring that you wanted.
Honestly, when a marriage feels no different from the days you were dating, that’s a good sign. Many people put too much emphasis on “that day” or that “title” that they lose track of the real purpose/meaning of marriage. It’s as if all the problems they had before marriage were supposed to magically disappear now that they have that official title. It’s pure insanity to think like that.
Sounds like you two are off to a great future together. Best of luck. =)
That’s such an awesome ring. Congrats anyhow!
congratsss, you two!! and thanks for sharing your love story with us!!
How sweet. Congrats to you both!
Congratulations dude. My cousins got married in Korea but did the same thing here in nyc.

May you find strength through difficult times, have understanding of each others’ differences, respect for each others’ hopes and dreams. May you both be blessed with good health, happiness, and prosperity this year and the years to come as you learn from each other and continue to grow.
All the best to you two!

You are made of pure WIN for your selection of wedding ring. What sort of ring did she have? Arwen’s, perhaps? I can’t wait to pics of the ring, only because its LOTR….I’m such a nerd.

CONGRATS!
Congratulations
Congrats to you both. May you have many blessed years together
congratulations!!! best wishes from Malaysia…
congraulations, but “naive and mature?” to “catch up to you”? great way to start off your marriage by being patronizing.
Congrats!
@penguinspwnj00 - I’m not sure how I am being patronizing by telling the story of what happened in the past. It’s not like I’m saying she is like that now and it isn’t something that she didn’t know about herself.
-ray leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
congrats!
and we need the visuals
funny how fast everything happened, huh? I know another couple who met on xanga and later got married too, they are really happy together. Congratulation! I’ll keep reading as you keep writing on this blog. =)
Cheers to the newlyweds!
how exciting! Congrats!
Well, congrats!

wow nice ring! very original for a wedding band.
glad i got to see the ring in person. congratulations to the two of you. now get her to blog!
congratulations
is there a “like” button on xanga? congrat rayyyyyyyyyy =)
and good seeing u for one hot sec on the train~
I am actually going to do the same. My bf is going to Iraq in January and we both decided it would be best to get a marriage certificate and then have the engagement and wedding when he gets back. The benefits outweigh the cons especially since I’ll be going off to graduate school…and I love him, so like you I can say “Why not?”
congrats!!!
congratulations – I can’t believe that online dating is that successful till now.
post some pictures in first instance
and yeah – forgot about the ring – marvelous
Congratulations!!!!!!!!
omg~reli glad for u 2 even i m one of the readers here~:)
LOL, that’s a cool ring…does it really have the engraving? One of my friends has a “ring of power” as his wedding band too, but minus the engraving.
Also, it’s a great love story between you and Karen. I met my SO at uni and I didn’t have any strong feelings for him at the beginning either…in fact I thought he was kind of immature and brooding. Over time we became friends and then lovers. Funny how things work out eh?
Congrats!!!
congratulations to the both of you!
and good shiet on the ring! hahaha
