  • Bad relationships and breakups get all the attention

I noticed that my most popular entries, the ones that have thousands upon thousands of hits and are constantly recommended, are always the ones regarding bad relationships and breakups. Interestingly, my “happy relationship” entries get no love. Why is that? Do people just love drama?

  • people are always seeking advice and (quick) fixes – not a lot of people know how to just be happy. when someone is happy, it’s threatening, i think.

idk about guys, but around girls, you don’t want to be the one who has a great guy who never fights with you. it makes you boring. (hypothetically. i love NOT fighting. i think THAT is awesome. lol.)

  • Oh ray. Maybe it’s because you have improved so steadily as a writer that it got to a place where recommending everything you write now defeats the whole purpose of recommending. ;)

  • @leprovocateur - Oh Leprov, I wish that were the case.  =)

Besides, I don’t believe in that.  If that were the case, I would have to stop recommending your entries.

  • Yes, people just find drama much more interesting.  hehe

  • Unfortunately, drama usually wins out in the blogging world. It’s like how the bloggers who write about controversial subjects (and take the unpopular stances) and have a lot of haters get tons of traffic and comments.

  • It’s the Jim/Pam Effect from The Office.  Happy couples are just boring.  They’re more interesting when there’s drama, conflict, and sexual tension.  But getting married and having babies?  Zzzzz

  • i think more people are on the other side of love. the side of broken relationships and the not there yet and the what ifs.

it is harder for people to relate to your happy marriage.

  • I feel it goes one of two ways – either “Uh yeah, I’m happy too, whatever…” or “I don’t care about how happy you are, I want to wallow.”

  • love is boring.

    conflict is not.

  • ppl just love enjoying reading broken relationships

  • Yes, just like how negative news stories grab so much more attention than news stories reporting everything in the world is well and good.

  • Drama is ALWAYs much more exciting for people.

  • referring to any entries in particular? i’d like to read and rec :P

  • The caliber of collection that you are providing is but marvelous.
